General Roof Replacement Questions
How do I know if I really need a new roof?
We don’t guess — we inspect your roof in detail, document every finding, and let you know if replacement is truly needed or if repairs will do. If there’s storm damage, we’ll show you exactly why and when a claim makes sense.
What are the signs that my roof is failing?
Leaks, missing shingles, granule loss, warped shingles, or interior water stains are red flags. We’ll identify these issues during your inspection and show you clear photo evidence so you can make an informed decision.
How long does a typical roof replacement take?
Most replacements are finished in 1 day depending on size which could lead to 2 days, but the quality of our preparation starts long before installation — ensuring all materials, permits, and insurance approvals are ready so there are no delays.
How much will a new roof cost without insurance?
We’ll give you a transparent, itemized estimate upfront. Without insurance, most range from $8,000–$20,000+ depending on size, pitch, and materials. If damage is storm-related, we’ll help determine if insurance can cover it.
How long will my new roof last?
With the right materials and installation, you can expect 20–30 years of performance — and we back that with strong manufacturer and labor warranties. However, some insurances want you to replace your roof before reaching 15 years as they switch you to a less beneficial policy when the roof reaches this age. Inquire More.
What types of shingles or roofing materials do you offer?
We offer as our standard Owens Corning Duration with Rizer Ridge but also offer an impact-resistant shingles that may qualify for insurance discounts. This means that likely you'll get an automatic upgrade from your current shingle type to our standard OC Duration Shingle just for trusting Toros Roofing
Can I choose a different shingle color or style than I have now?
Yes — we bring samples and design tools so you can visualize your new roof before installation begins.
What warranties do you provide on your roofs?
You get a full manufacturers warranty and a 5-year labor warranty from Toros Roofing, plus all work documented for your records and insurance peace of mind.
Do you use subcontractors or your own crews?
We use our own experienced, well trained crews that meet our strict quality and safety standards.
Will my yard and landscaping be protected during installation?
Absolutely — we use tarps, magnetic sweeps, and thorough cleanup so your property looks better when we leave than when we arrived.
Insurance Claim Process
How do I know if my roof damage qualifies for an insurance claim?
We’ll inspect, take photos, review storm history, and advise you honestly. If damage meets insurance guidelines, we’ll explain why, show you the proof, and walk you through filing a claim.
Will you work directly with my insurance company?
Yes — we coordinate everything with your adjuster, present our documented findings, and ensure your damage is fairly assessed and covered.
What’s the process for filing a roof insurance claim?
First, we inspect and create a certified damage report. If filing is justified, we guide you through making the claim, meet the adjuster, and submit all needed documentation.
What does “meeting my deductible” mean?
It’s the amount you pay before your insurance covers the rest. We explain how it works so there are no surprises.
It’s illegal in Texas and many other states. We follow the law and maintain full transparency — roofing companies that offer to “waive” your deductible risk putting your claim and your coverage in jeopardy.
How long does the insurance claim process take?
Typically 2–4 weeks, but our involvement speeds things up by ensuring all paperwork and supplements are handled correctly the first time.
Will my premiums go up if I file a claim?
Weather-related claims usually don’t raise individual premiums but total claims in a zip code often lead to increased premiums — we’ll explain your carrier’s policies so you can decide confidently.
What happens if my insurance only approves a repair?
We review the decision, compare it with our inspection, and if more damage exists, we provide new evidence to justify a full replacement.
What is a “supplement” and why would you file one?
A supplement is additional documentation for uncovered or missed work. We file it to ensure your claim fully covers the scope of repairs needed.
How do you ensure the insurance payout covers all necessary work?
By matching our estimate line-by-line with your policy coverage, backed by photo evidence and industry-standard pricing software.
Claim Approval & Adjuster Meetings
Will you be here when the insurance adjuster inspects my roof?
Yes — we’re always onsite for the adjuster’s inspection. We walk them through our findings, point out damage they might otherwise miss, and ensure your claim is accurately represented.
How do you make sure the adjuster sees all the damage?
We prepare a complete photo and video package, mark damaged areas, and reference official storm reports so nothing gets overlooked.
What happens if the adjuster misses something?
We request a re-inspection and submit additional evidence to have it included — our documentation gives us a strong case.
Can you re-open a denied claim?
Yes — if new evidence is found or if a new storm impacts your roof, we can help you re-file and build a fresh claim with updated documentation.
How do you document the damage for insurance?
We use high-resolution photos, storm history data, roof measurements, and written descriptions to create a professional Certified Roof Condition Report.
Payment, Costs, and Financing
How much do I have to pay upfront?
In most insurance cases, just your deductible. For non-insurance work, we never take money until work is complete — all explained in writing before work begins.
Do you offer financing options?
Currently No — we will be offering flexible plans soon so you can start work now and pay over time if insurance isn’t involved.
Can I use my insurance check to pay you directly?
Yes — Sometimes the mortgage is listed on the insurance check so once your mortgage company endorses the check or if no mortgage is listed you can endorse the insurance check to Toros Roofing paying us directly. We will guide you through that process.
What if the insurance check is less than your estimate?
We file a supplement with your insurance, providing documentation to bridge the gap so all necessary work is covered.
How do I handle my mortgage company’s involvement in the payment?
We’ll walk you through their endorsement requirements, timelines, and forms so there’s no delay in starting your project.
Roof Installation & Upgrades
What’s the difference between standard shingles and impact-resistant shingles?
Impact-resistant shingles are designed to better withstand hail and severe weather. We can explain if the upgrade might help lower your insurance premium.
Do impact-resistant shingles lower my insurance premium?
In many cases, yes. We’ll help provide the documentation your insurer needs to apply the discount.
Can I upgrade my ventilation system during the replacement?
Yes — we will install ridge vents as an upgrade that is included. We offer other improvements to help your roof last longer and improve energy efficiency, i.e. Attic Breeze solar powered ventilation.
Do you recommend replacing my gutters at the same time?
If your gutters are damaged or aging — and insurance is covering them — the answer is absolutely yes. Doing them together saves time, avoids extra labor costs, and ensures your entire water drainage system is ready to perform. If you’re paying out-of-pocket, we can provide a very fair, detailed estimate so you can make the best decision for your budget.
Can you install solar panels or prep my roof for them?
We don’t install solar panels as a stand-alone service, but for roof replacements, we detach and reset any existing solar panels — and we work to have insurance pay for that process so you’re not out-of-pocket. We have a trusted partnership with a local Solar Energy Team to ensure everything is handled professionally and on schedule. Yes — we can coordinate with your solar provider or ensure your new roof is solar-ready.
Will you replace all flashing and pipe boots during installation?
Yes — all key components like flashing, vents, and pipe boots are replaced and resealed for maximum leak prevention. We upgrade the pipe boots from rubber to lead boots because rubber boots tend to crack, dry out, and fail after just a few years under Texas sun and weather. lead boots, on the other hand, can last decades. They form a tighter, more durable seal around the pipe and are resistant to UV rays, temperature changes, and animal damage. By making this upgrade, we’re giving your roof a longer lifespan and reducing the chances of future leak repairs.
Do you use synthetic underlayment or felt?
We use premium synthetic underlayment for better moisture resistance, durability, and wind protection.
Can I add skylights?
Yes — if you’re replacing your roof, it’s the perfect time for custom upgrades.
How do you handle steep roofs or difficult access?
We have the right equipment, safety measures, and trained crews to handle any pitch or height safely.
Can you paint or match roof accessories to my shingle color?
Yes — we coordinate colors for vents, flashing, and accessories so your roof has a uniform, professional look.
Storm Damage & Preparedness
How soon should I have my roof inspected after a storm?
Right away — even minor hail or wind can shorten your roof’s life. Quick inspections ensure damage is documented before deadlines run out.
What’s the difference between hail damage and normal wear and tear?
Hail causes specific impact marks and granule loss patterns. Normal wear is gradual. We identify the difference and document it for insurance.
Can wind damage be covered by insurance?
Yes — if wind lifts, creases, or removes shingles, it’s often a covered peril. We’ll document and present it for approval.
